Cheese danish

I have to admit, the word "danish" always scared me a bit. It seemed fancy, and I am not a fancy person. Now, "muffin" I get. That is, until I went over to a friend's house for brunch and tried this delightful little thing. It was "Christmas-morning-worthy." I was a little afraid my picky eater wouldn't enjoy it, but to my surprise, he can't stop eating it.

Danish
Ingredients:
  • 2 cans Pillsbury crescent rolls
  • 1 1/2 packages cream cheese
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 egg yolk (save the egg white for later)
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions:
  • Press one can of rolls onto the bottom of a 13x9 pan
  • Mix all danish ingredients except egg white and spread on top of pressed roll
  • Press second package of rolls on top of mixture
  • Beat egg white with a fork and brush on top of the entire thing (you can buy those brushes for a whole $2 at WalMart)
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes
Frosting
Ingredients:

  • 1 cup confectioners sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon
Directions:
  • Mix ingredients
  • Top danish with frosting after it is out of the oven and is still warm
Do yourself a favor and don't try to figure out the calories on this one. It's not worth it. But it totally is.

Just sayin'.
