Homemade Brownie Mix

So back when we had two incomes, we were living large.

Eating out.

Gettin' my hair did.

Going to movies.

Buying pre-made brownie mix from the store.

Now that I am {gratefully} staying home with this little nugget, I'm trying to find any way possible to cut corners in the budget so that I can still do my countless Pinterest projects around the house. I'm getting even better than I was before at planning meals and buying only what I need {except for all the glitter and glue sticks and burlap I need for my Pinterest projects}.

But mamma needs a brownie every once in a while. Can I get an amen?

My own dad looked at me like I was crazy to do this. It's the epitome of cheap. But when you do an assembly line and make several at one time, it's way worth it. It comes out to pennies on the dollar compared to the store-bought mix, and I promise you it tastes exactly the same. So here's what you'll need...

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup cocoa
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • Chocolate chips (optional)

Directions:

Combine the ingredients and put in a large ziploc bag. On the outside of the bag, write the instructions in permanent marker {I promise you won't remember them later if you don't}. When you're ready to bake them, you'll need to mix in 2 eggs, 1/2 cup canola oil, and 1 tsp. vanilla extract. I'll show you just how easy it is to make these when you're ready to.

Throw the mix into a bowl.

Add the eggs.

Pour in the oil.

And the vanilla.

Whisk it up!

Now you don't have to add chocolate chips, but I choose to. It makes it extra gooey.

Spray an 8x8 pan and pour the mixture into it. Then go on Pinterest and figure out how to clean your nasty baking sheet.

Bake at 350° for 25-30 minutes. I found that 25 minutes was perfect for our particular pan.

Now go make these...GO!

Love and being cheap,
